Mission Hills Park
Pleasanton, California

A severely deteriorated two-acre park was rehabilitated and expanded into this seven-acre community park. Picnicking and passive areas were sited to optimize views of surrounding foothills, and new play areas were designed to serve adjacent residences. A perimeter section of an existing creek was regraded to create a naturalized pond habitat that encourages waterfowl. Surface drainage to a central rivulet provides a natural seasonal water element while maximizing water percolation.
