THE CONTAINER STORE AT SANTANA ROW
SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA
Design for a major street frontage for an upscale shopping and entertainment destination; design of public plaza and store entry. Slate paving with colored concrete bands provide a Mediterranean feel for the pedestrian-oriented urban plaza; smaller accent tiles at paving intersections bring headlights to the design. The entry is accentuated by a change of color in the slate tiles. Tall Mexican Fan Palms rise out of colorful shrubs; other planting areas feature white roses and white camellias. Tall copper columnar planters hold sculptural planting and create a unique entry statement, and concrete bollards at the curb are adorned with a pineapple element, known to denote hospitality.
